All data and information exchanged between HIC and your Practice uses
128-bit encryption through the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and ensures
that all electronically transmitted information is secure, private and
confidential. PKI requires users to be registered and issued Healthcare
Location Certificates, Healthcare Individual Certificates and Digital
Signatures.
The PKI project is an initiative of the Federal Government and, as such,
is currently being supplied to all medical practitioners and Practices
free of charge. To facilitate this, the HIC has established the Health
eSignature Authority Pty Ltd (www.hesa.com.au).
The HIC has detailed information regarding PKI at www.hic.gov.au/ pki
and can be contacted on telephone 1300 660 035.
